CHAYŌ is a Japanese café located just 2 minutes from Clayton Station. We’re currently looking for passionate and experienced team members to join us in the following roles:

☕ EXPERIENCED BARISTA – PART TIME

We’re looking for a confident barista with solid coffee knowledge and great customer service skills.

Main responsibilities include:

Preparing espresso coffee and specialty drinks
Managing workflow and assisting with floor duties when required
Maintaining a clean and efficient work environment
Providing friendly and consistent customer service
Working closely with the FOH and kitchen teams
You must have:

Minimum 2 years specialty coffee experience
Strong knowledge of coffee and equipment
Full working rights in Australia (please discuss if on working holiday)
Flexible availability, including weekends

🥐 PASTRY CHEF / BAKER – PART TIME

We’re looking for a pastry chef or baker to prepare tarts, shortcakes, cookies, and other Japanese-inspired desserts.

Main responsibilities include:

Preparing and baking cakes, tarts, and other baked goods
Following recipes and maintaining consistency
Maintaining a clean and organised workstation
Collaborating with the kitchen and FOH teams
You must have:

Experience in pastry or baking (tarts, shortcakes, cookies)
Good time management and attention to detail
Full working rights in Australia
Early morning availability
Willingness to assist with general kitchen duties (desirable)

🧾 ASSISTANT FLOOR MANAGER – PART TIME OR FULL TIME

We’re seeking a reliable and friendly floor manager to lead service, coordinate the FOH team, and help maintain a smooth and welcoming environment.

Main responsibilities include:

Overseeing FOH service and managing staff
Handling bookings, floor flow, and customer interactions
Communicating closely with kitchen and barista team
Supporting staff training and daily organisation
You must have:

FOH supervisory or manager experience
Strong communication and leadership skills
Calm, positive attitude under pressure
Full working rights in Australia
Interest in Japanese cuisine or Japanese language ability (desirable)
