Experienced Japanese Grocery & Sushi Takeaway Staff

We are looking for an experienced and reliable team member to join our Japanese grocery and takeaway sushi shop.

This is a hands-on position that combines Japanese grocery and sushi preparation. We are looking for someone who is confident working across both areas and can maintain a high standard of quality, cleanliness and customer service.

About the Role

You will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

Japanese Grocery:

• Cash register operation and product repacking
• Checking product expiry dates and maintaining accurate stock rotation
• Restocking and maintaining product displays
• Checking product prices and labels
• Keeping the store clean, organised and well presented
• Following up on products, promotions and important information from Head Office
• Communicating with Head Office and following operational procedures
• Supporting general day-to-day store operations

Sushi / Food Preparation:

• Preparing takeaway sushi, including sushi rolls
• Food preparation and general kitchen duties
• Working efficiently during busy periods
• Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation
• Following food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
• Keeping the preparation area clean and organised

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has relevant experience and can work independently with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 1 year of Previous experience in sushi preparation, Japanese food, hospitality or food retail 
• Good knife skills and confidence with food preparation
• Experience making sushi rolls is highly desirable
• The ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy environment
• Strong attention to detail, particularly with product dates, stock and presentation
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and procedures
• A reliable and responsible attitude
• The ability to work well as part of a team
• A genuine interest in maintaining a high standard of food and store presentation
• RSA certificate
• Ability to speak, read and write Japanese
