Bring your children for a fun session of storytelling and craft-making at our library. The featured theme will be Japanese year-end and New Year celebrations. Also included are cultural activities such as traditional games (fukuwarai – a funny face puzzle and bōzu mekuri – a card game involving bald monks) and water calligraphy, which causes no ink mess on your hands and clothes.
Although the level of selected picture book will be best suited for children who understand Japanese language used in children’s books for 4 years old and above, this event welcomes all primary and secondary schoolchildren with a good understanding of spoken Japanese. Children under 12 must be supervised by a guardian.
If you would like to know more about Japanese as community language, a selection of books on the topic will be available for loan.

児童を対象にした日本語読み聞かせと簡単な工作のセッションです。図書館の日本語絵本・紙芝居コレクションの中から、幼稚園児から小学校低学年向けの作品を選んで行います。今回は日本の年末年始をテーマにとりあげ、後半は伝統的な遊び（ふくわらい・坊主めくり）や、手や服を汚さない水書道による書初め体験を行います。
当館では児童書（約1,500冊）及び、繋生語教育に関する図書を数多く揃えております。この機会に是非ご利用ください。
