Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Sydney, the Japanaroo 2021 event period has been extended from its original schedule and will now run from Friday 20 August to Saturday 2 October.

Japanaroo 2021 Is Finally Here!

Japanaroo 2021 will be held from August 20 to Saturday 2 October (*Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Sydney, the Japanaroo 2021 event period has been extended) and feature an expansive number of Japanese-Australian-related groups and companies involved in events covering various angles such as food, culture, and travel.

Despite being in its inaugural year, over 50 different events (including hybrid and online-only events) have been confirmed.

One of these notable inclusions is a Japanese exhibition held at the gallery of the world-famous Sydney-based artist, Ken Done.

With the Consulate General of Japan in Sydney leading the way as Team Japan in this united public and private sector event, we here at Nichigo Press will use this issue to offer our full support by transforming it into a Special Japanaroo Edition, and emblazoning the event’s key visuals across the front cover.

To coincide with Japanaroo 2021, we are featuring remarks from the New South Wales Premier, Gladys Berejiklian; the Ambassador of Japan to Australia, Shingo Yamagami; and the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Masahiko Kiya.

We also have interviews with the artists behind the event’s Japanese-Australian key visuals, as well as a guide to Japanese restaurants in the Sydney CBD area, amongst our selection of special features spread out across 18 dedicated pages for our local fans of Japan.

Opening Event

The opening event for Japanaroo 2021 is a gala concert featuring renowned, traditional Japanese-Australian artists.
